The TSITour project, coordinated by Ovar Forma – Ensino e Formação, Lda., has been awarded the prestigious European Innovative Teaching Award (EITA) 2024 in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) category. The award ceremony, held in Brussels on the 15th of November 2024, celebrated outstanding educational projects from across Europe, focusing this year on the theme “Wellbeing at School.” The project and the consortium were represented by Isaura Oliveira from the coordination team.
The 2024 theme emphasized the importance of a whole-school approach to fostering mental health and overall wellbeing for learners and educators. TSITour stood out among 96 exemplary projects recognized across four categories: Early Childhood Education and Care, Primary Education, Secondary Education, and Vocational Education and Training. These projects, spanning 32 European countries, were celebrated for their innovation, impact, and alignment with the priorities of the European Commission.
TSITour fostered dynamic partnerships between schools and community organizations in Portugal, Spain, Greece, and Italy, creating socially impactful initiatives that transformed elderly citizens into storytellers for local tourism. By bridging generations and reducing social exclusion, the project promoted a sense of belonging and mutual respect, demonstrating how education can play a central role in building inclusive and resilient communities.
Implemented in close collaboration with Erasmus+ National Agencies, the EITA award continues to spotlight innovative practices that address contemporary challenges in education, inspiring educators to adopt holistic approaches to teaching and community engagement.
