During the first half of May, TSITour project partners started the piloting of the new TSITour training platform. Several students of VET schools from Portugal, Spain, Greece and Italy will be involved in a training course in which they will have the opportunity to learn how to create a social intervention project, increasing their skills in the field of inclusion of elderly people.
The goal of the training is to give VET students the tools they need to propose social interventions in order to include elderly people in the role of storyteller to promote local tourism. These proposals will serve on one hand to rediscover the importance of the historical heritage of elderly people, on the other hand to enhance touristic experiences by making them more authentic.
The theoretical training activities are currently implemented both in presence and online, depending on the health situation of each country due to the pandemic. The activities are conducted partially in a synchronous mode which allows students to have the presence of partner organizations staff, partially in an asynchronous mode which instead provides for autonomous learning by the students.
During the month of June, the students will be committed to practically implement their proposals conducting activities with elderly, social workers and touristic workers.
The project TSITour – Training on Social Inclusion in Tourism, by including the elderly as local storytellers for the Tourism Industry is funded by the Erasmus+ Programme Key Action 2 – Strategic Partnerships | Vocational education and training.
